Freedom Field Playground Partnership

IRMCA is partnering on the first of its kind, all inclusive playground located in Columbus, IN. With Repp & Mundt, Inc. the Columbus, Indiana contractor, the IRMCA participated in placing a 28,000 square feet, 4” deep Pervious Concrete playground. The Pervious Concrete will act as a base for the playground, that will have a 3—1/4” rubber surface placed on top. There is also a 6’ wide pathway around the circumference of the project that is a pervious whitetop on a 4” base. The playground is located behind the Parkside School in

Columbus. The cost of the playground will be close to $1 million dollars when finished and will be the only one of its kind in the country with its design. A representative from the City of Richmond’s Planning Department and Randy Braun from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (and currently writing the Stormwater Manual) were on hand to watch at one of the placements.
