OUTSTANDING CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Presented to
Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana
The Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2007 Outstanding Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on December 11, 2007 at the Indianapolis East Marriott.
In the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial Projects: Public/Institutional, Allen County won for their Public Library in Fort Wayne.
The project team for the Allen County Public Library is the project owner: Allen County Public Library, the Engineering firm: Gwathmey Seigel & Assoc, the Architectural firm: MSKTD & Assoc., Inc., the General Contractor: W. A. Sheets & Sons, the Concrete Finisher: Hamilton Hunter Builders and the ready mix producer: Erie Haven, Inc.
This job was located in the middle of downtown Fort Wayne, where most of the concrete had to be pumped ─ traffic control was a challenge. Approximately one-third of the wall footers were poured with flowable fill since ground water was a major factor. Because of 18’ walls, pumping the concrete was required. There was approximately 8,000 cubic yards of concrete used in this project.
IRMCA presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers. |
