OUTSTANDING CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2007 Outstanding Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on December 11, 2007 at the Indianapolis East Marriott.

In the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial Projects, Industrial Projects, the winner was Allen Foods located in Elkhart.

The project team for the Allen Foods is the Project Owner: Allen Foods, the Engineering Firm: Weaver Boos Consultants,  the Architectural firm: The Austin Company, the General Contractor and concrete finisher: Ancon Construction and the Ready Mix Producer: Eagle Ready-Mix, Inc.

Tight specifications made this project a challenge to the finisher and the producer. The job included a tilt up precast exterior. It was fast tracked construction where trades had to be on concrete in as little as three days, sometimes with semi loads of steel. A total of 2,900 cubic yards of concrete were used on this job.

IRMCA presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers.
