The  Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2008 Outstanding  Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on January 13,  2009 at the Indianapolis East Marriott.

In  the category of Concrete Infrastructure Projects: Multiple Categories, the  winner is the Cash Concrete Products New Office in Greencastle, Indiana.

The  project team for Cash Concrete Products  New Office is the Project Owner:  Cash Concrete Products, Inc., the General Contractor; H & L Enterprises, the Concrete  Finishers: Ferrand Concrete for  the walls and warehouse floors and BW  Concrete for the office, floors and parking lot, and the Ready Mix  Producer: Cash Concrete Products, Inc.

Cash  Concrete Products, Inc. wanted to build a new office/warehouse to promote and  showcase the different aspects of the products they sell. Making your way down  CR 450 east, you cross over a new culvert bridge backfilled with Flowable fill,  with the new building on your left. The exterior of the building showcases the  concrete tilt-up panels, the concrete parking lot, stamped concrete, and  exposed aggregate. The stamped concrete along with the exposed aggregate concrete  was designed to accent the color theme of the overall project. The building has  brick and concrete veneers on a portion of the building as well as the exposed  tilt-up panels. There is a concrete parking lot on the south side of the  building connected to a concrete driveway and concrete block yard. Walking up  the concrete steps into the entry way you are greeted with colored concrete  floors with unique cutting patterns in the floor. There are three concrete  countertops in the building. The office is surrounded by two insulated concrete  form walls separating the main office area from the warehouse. In the warehouse,  the tilt-up concrete panels are exposed on the inside. Metal stairs with  concrete pans lead you to the top of the office onto a concrete mezzanine deck.  There was a total of 950 cubic yards of concrete used in this project. The new  building is replacing a building that was used for more than 60 years. The new  building is built in Cash Concrete Products, Inc.’s 90th year in  business.

IRMCA  presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of  concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects,  engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers.
