OUTSTANDING CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Presented to City Center @ Penn in Carmel, Indiana

The Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2007 Outstanding Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on December 11, 2007 at the Indianapolis East Marriott.

In the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial Projects: Commercial Building Projects, Panatonni Development Co., won for their City Center @ Penn, located in Carmel.

The project team is the owner/developer: Panatonni Development Co., the Engineering firm: Smith Roberts & Associates, the Architectural firm: Simmons Architects, LLC, the General contractor: Panatton Construction, Inc. the concrete finisher: Shiel Sexton Company, and the ready mix producer: Irving Materials, Inc.

The three story structure utilizes load bearing pre-cast concrete shear walls with four interior cores of pre-cast that further resist the lateral loads at the stairs and elevator locations. The slab-on grade is four inches thick and mildly reinforced, which is efficient and adequate to resist typical office loads. The elevated slabs are also four inches thick concrete (two inches of normal weight concrete on two inch composite steel deck). Again, these allow for an economical and efficient framing system with excellent load carry capacity. A total of 2,900 cubic yards was used in this project.

IRMCA presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers.
