OUTSTANDING CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Presented to
Crawfordsville Commerce Park in Crawfordsville, Indiana
The Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2007 Outstanding Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on December 11, 2007 at the Indianapolis East Marriott.
In the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial Projects: Other, the City of Crawfordsville won for the Crawfordsville Commerce Park.
The project team for the Crawfordsville Commerce Park is the owner: City of Crawfordsville, the engineering firm: Civil Designs, the Architectural firm: Remenschneider Associates, the general contractor: Fairfield Contractors, the concrete finisher: Smock Fansler Construction, and the ready mix producer: Irving Materials, Inc.
This signature entry sign that has the look and feel of a large quarried limestone piece was actually made by using a specialized concrete mix, forming systems and finishing techniques.
The installation takes creative concrete construction in another direction allowing large monolithic structural pours to replicate a quarried material in an application where the natural materials would have been impractical and cost prohibitive. The concrete mix designed for the fine texture of limestone allowed sculpting while exposing the larger aggregate. This large cast-in-place piece utilized a multilayered free-form forming system. Thirty cubic yards of concrete was used in this project.
IRMCA presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers. |
