In the category of Concrete Infrastructure Projects, Parking Lots under 500 cubic yards, one of the winning projects is the Courier Corporation's Plant Parking Area located in Kendallville. Recipients include the following individuals and/or organizations: The Courier Corporation, Structural Engineering Services, R. E. Crosby, Inc., and Erie Haven, Inc.
The Courier Plant expanded their loading dock and parking areas. The concrete was placed in strips because of slope concerns both front to back and side to side. This made setting up the vibratory screed challenging. Slump ranged from 2” – 4” because of slope and the use of superplasticizes mode stripping forms quick to set up for the next pour. This allowed the Courier plant to resume business and use the new loading dock and parking areas quickly. The Courier Plant in Kendallville sits in the middle of an ever expanding industrial park. Many businesses have seen growth in the area, which in turn, creates more jobs and people in Kendallville. These people need homes and shopping centers - all which use concrete. |
