In the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial, Patterned/Decorative, one of the winning projects was the Custom Concrete Office located in the Westfield, IN area. Recipients included the following individuals and/or organizations: Custom Concrete, Circle M Construction and Builder's Concrete & Supply Co., Inc.
The winning project was the erection of a retaining wall installed at Custom Concrete’s new facility in Westfield. Custom Concrete was the General Contractor on the wall project and sub-contracted the wall section work. The job incorporated heavy steel and aluminum panels. The wall section panels had plastic inserts that produced a stone pattern. Aluminum brick pattern panels were used to achieve the look on the columns. Taupe Solomon ColorFlo liquid color was used.
The job started on 7/27/04 and ended on 9/1/04, however, it was early 2005 when the finishing touches were added. There are a total of 16 columns. The wall sections are from 6’ to 10’ tall and average in length from 28’ to 51’ with a thickness of 10”. With the columns and wall sections, the project took a total of 329 cubic yards due to wall grades. All concrete had to be placed with a Tele-Belt conveyor. This project helped to show how we can use patterns and colors on vertical surfaces. |
