| OUTSTANDING CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Presented to The Drury Inn, Indianapolis, Indiana The Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2008 Outstanding Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on January 13, 2009 at the Indianapolis East Marriott. In the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial Projects: Cast-in-Place Frame, one of the winners is the Drury Inn located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The project team is the owner/developer: Drury Inn, the Engineering and Architectural firm and General Contractor: Druco, the concrete finisher: Rago Concrete Ltd, and the ready mix producer: Builder’s Concrete & Supply, Inc. The structure of this hotel was constructed entirely from reinforced concrete and post-tensional concrete. An insulated concrete form system (ICF) was designed and constructed to give the perimeter better insulation and sound proofing. The mix for the structure consists of 5000 psi reinforced columns and cast-in-place, post-tensional decks. Tendons were pulled in 2-3 days after obtaining 3000 psi in winter conditions Drury Inn has made a decision to use ICF’s for the perimeter walls in almost all of their future constructions. They were able to downsize their entire roof top heating and cooling units thus allowing them to save on their energy costs. This is one of the largest ICF jobs in the state. The hotel totals over 6,000 cubic yards of concrete. IRMCA presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers. |
