The use of Pervious Concrete in Indiana is a fairly new concept. Although parts of the country have been using it for years, Indiana is just now beginning to embrace its many features and benefits. One of pervious concretes many uses are in the residential market.
This particular project was a driveway in Broad Ripple close to the White River and was started in late Sept. 2005 and finished Oct. 1, 2005. The homeowner had a stone driveway and wanted a solid surface to drive on. There are many mature trees close to the driveway the homeowner wanted to preserve. They chose – PERVIOUS for this job! The project was designed so that the use of 40 cubic yards of Pervious would continue to allow the rainwater to seep through and feed the trees root systems below. The ecological sensitivity of the product, due to the fact the project is at the edge of The White River, was also a major benefit to the homeowner. |
