116th Street Reconstruction Project - The Town of Fishers |
| Project Type: |
Concrete Infrastructure Projects, Municipal Streets |
| |
|
| In the category of Concrete Infrastructure Projects, Municipal Streets, one of the winning projects was the 116th Street Reconstruction, Brookschool to Olio Road. Recipients included the following individuals and/or organizations: Town of Fishers, BF & S, Berns Construction and Builder's Concrete & Supply Co., Inc.
The significance of this project is that concrete was selected as the paving material. The Department of Public Works director was quoted as saying "We only want to build our major roads one time." The widening of 116th street will further enable the Town of Fishers to cope with the population explosion that has been seen over the past decade. The two land asphalt road was replaced with a five land concrete pavement. State of the art QA/QC mix designs were used in conjunction with a slip for pavers. Approximately 10,000 cubic yards of concrete was used on this project.
