OUTSTANDING  CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

The  Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2008 Outstanding  Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on January 13,  2009 at the Indianapolis East Marriott.

In  the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial Projects: Patterned/Decorative,  one of the winners is the FT Kelley & Sons Pools located in Evansville,  Indiana.

The  project team is the owner/developer: FT  Kelley & Sons Pools, and the concrete finisher: F & F Concrete and the ready mix  producer: IMI Southwest.

This  project became necessary because of a devastating fire in the pool store front.  The owners solicited project members to create an innovative showroom floor to  offer creative pool décor ideas to potential customers. The 4000 square foot  showroom featured numerous styles of decorative concrete as examples for  customer’s pool decks. Stamped, textured, and stenciled concrete appear  throughout the entire space in a creative pattern to entice and encourage pool  sales. The showroom features a custom cut stencil pattern of the F.T. Kelley  and Sons logo and a walking path in old English cobble stone stencil – both in  pool water blue. Other patterns and stencils are throughout the showroom. The  project was completed in one week - with the family able to resume all business  activities in one and a half weeks. A total of 38 cubic yards was used in this  project.

IRMCA  presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of  concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects,  engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers.
