In the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial, Tilt Up, one of the winning projects was the Purdue Technology Center located in Northwest Indiana. Recipients include the following individuals and/or organizations: Purdue Research Foundation, CSO Architects, Power & Sons Construction, Walker Construction, Inc. and Smith Ready Mix.
This project was unique for the general contractor because it was their first time to build a cast-on-site, tilt up structure. The foundations and floor slab were poured in spring 2004. The concrete wall panels were formed onsite including reveals made by forms and then tilted up.
One of the largest challenges on this job was the schedule. Powers worked through the challenge to create a handsome structure which is the first of many developments on the site. The project, using 2,500 cubic yards of concrete, was completed by the end of year. |
