OUTSTANDING CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Presented to Purdue University for the Purdue Discovery Park Site
In West Lafayette, Indiana
The Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2007 Outstanding Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on December 11, 2007 at the Indianapolis East Marriott.
In the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial Projects: Patterned/Decorative, Purdue University won for their Purdue Discovery Park Site Work on the Purdue University West Lafayette Campus.
The project team for the Purdue Discovery Park Site Work is the owner: Purdue University, the engineering and architectural firm: Schneider Corporation, the General Contractor and Concrete Finisher: J.R. Kelly Company, Inc, and the ready mix producer: Irving Materials, Inc.
This project on the campus of Purdue University used decorative concrete that includes integral color throughout. The contractor used a topcast surface retarder to give the concrete a sandblast finish. Decorative tool joints and hand seeded glass were worked into the concrete surface. This project has led to the use of decorative concrete in many more of their projects.
A total of 2,100 cubic yards were used in the project.
IRMCA presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers. |
