In the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial, Tilt Up, one of the winning projects was the Purdue Research Foundation's 'Academic Learning Center' located in the Merrillville, IN area. Recipients included the following individuals and/or organizations: Purdue University - Facilities Planning & Construction, Charlier, Clark & Linard, CSO Architects, Gariup Construction Company and Ozinga Indiana RMC, Inc.
All concrete panels were cast-in-place on the jobsite. After significant curing, the panels were then lifted and placed. The project went extremely well, ahead of schedule, and within budget. This project used 3252 cubic yards of concrete.
A total of six different mixes were used and much of the concrete was poured in cooler temperatures. Therefore, protecting the concrete and achieving required strength with these conditions was critical in order to maintain a tight schedule. |
