In the category of Concrete Infrastructure Projects, Parking Lots over 500 Cubic Yards, the winning project was the Santa Claus United Methodist Church located in the Southwest Indiana. Recipients included the following individuals and/or organizations: Santa Clause United Methodist Church, Superior Concrete Construction and Tell City Concrete Supply.
The church parking lot, which was originally designed using asphalt pavement, was changed to concrete pavement after the building committee learned of the long term benefits of concrete. The project team used a 3D profiler laser screed to place the concrete and poured the entire lot in four pours. The only time that the schedule of the church was inconvenienced was when the entrance driveway was poured. Traffic was allowed on the driveway six days after placement.
IRMCA presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers. |
