| OUTSTANDING CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Presented to Spencer Residence Greenwood, Indiana The Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2009 Outstanding Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on January 19, 2010 at the Indianapolis Marriott North at Keystone at the Crossing in Indianapolis, Indiana. In the category of Concrete Residential Projects: Patterned/Decorative, one of the winners is the Spencer Residence located in Greenwood, Indiana. The project team for the Spencer residence includes Duke Homes, Visions in Hardscapes, and the ready mix producer: Irving Materials, Inc. The $6 million dollar home is a showcase for the use of concrete as a high end finish. The project required designing and problem solving to figure out the elevations and grading of the site to transition around the home. It consists of walkways from the drive to the front entrance, as well as around the entire home: intricate stamped steps and landings lead down to a pool deck, three patios, a 20 diameter fire pit, a 30 x 16 bridge, 130 steps from the upper terrace to the lower level pool deck, a large pool deck, 2 wide removable panels over the pool cover, as well as a 3100 sq. ft. driveway featuring a 5 diameter compass. There were multiple integral colors, stamps, and releases used on the job. It consisted of more than 10,000 sq. ft. of integral colored concrete. With the use of the integral colored and stamped concrete, they were able to provide a consistent theme to encompass the homes hardscapes in decorative concrete. IRMCA presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers. | | |
