OUTSTANDING CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Presented to Simon Property Group for the University Park Mall Project
In Mishawaka, Indiana

The Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2007 Outstanding Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on December 11, 2007 at the Indianapolis East Marriott.

In the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial Projects: Pervious, the Simon Property Group won for their University Park Mall Project.

The project team for the University Park Mall in Mishawaka, Indiana includes the Project owner: Simon Property Group, the engineering firm: Woolpert, Inc., the Architectural Firm: MSTSD, Inc., the General Contractor: Graycor Construction Co., the concrete finisher: Hagerman Construction Corp., and the ready mix producer: Kuert Concrete, Inc.

This was the first pervious concrete application for the Simon Property Group, so the success of this project was critical when you look at the enormous impact this company makes in the retail marketplace across the world.  IRMCA was instrumental in working with Hagerman Construction Corporation and Kuert Concrete, Inc. to ensure this project provided the Simon Property Group with the confidence that pervious concrete was a superior pavement choice for University Park Mall. The pervious concrete covers approximately 10,000 square feet of parking area and may become a model building practice for its shopping center and commercial properties. This project attracted quite a bit of media attention, including a video clip from a local news station. National Ready Mixed Concrete Association came in to help as well as the Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association. This project used a total of 181 cubic yards of pervious concrete.

IRMCA presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers.
