OUTSTANDING CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Presented to the Grandview Veterinary Clinic
for their "Pervious Parking Lot" Project
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2006 Outstanding Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on December 5, 2006 at the Indianapolis Downtown Marriott.
The award for Concrete Commercial & Industrial Projects – Stormwater Management Projects was awarded to the Grandview Veterinary Clinic in Angola, Indiana for their ‘Pervious Parking Lot’.
The project team is the owner/developer: Grandview Veterinary Clinic, the engineering firm: Tom Green Engineering, the building engineer: Kimmerle Engineering, the general contractor and concrete finisher: King Concrete Construction, and the ready mixed producer: Aggregate Industries.
The parking area was constructed of Pervious Concrete in order to create a detention storage area below parking to meet city storm water detention requirements due to construction of a 1600 square foot building addition.
This was the first use of pervious concrete in Angola. Angola incorporates storm water NPDES Phase 2 requirements for Angola SM to protect surrounding lakes which are a valuable tourism resource for the community.
The use of this material has spiked the interest of several people for stormwater management issues and for new subdivisions and lake areas. A total of 100 cubic yards was used in this project.
IRMCA presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers.
