In the category of Concrete Commercial & Industrial, Public/Institutional, one of the winning projects is the Grand Wayne Center Expansion located in Fort Wayne. Recipients included the following individuals and/or organizations: The Grand Wayne Center, MSKTD & Associates, HNTB, Hagerman Construction Corp., W.A. Sheets & Sons, Inc., and Erie Haven, Inc.

The profile wall on this project was such a unique profile that the forming system to create the wall needed to be an original system. The system was made from typical form liners and hardwood strips at some of the more detailed profile areas. The system worked great and Hagerman Construction was successful in forming over 40,000 square feet of profile wall. As typical of most profile walls, there was a concentrated effort to minimize the air trapped against the forms. The results were successful and minimal patching was needed to close up honeycombing. With an addition expansion the size of a city block using 1300 cubic yards of architectural walls, 3700 cubic yards of floor and more than 9300 cubic yards total, this was a large expansion. The Grand Wayne Convention center expansion will serve the downtown area with larger conventions bringing in bigger business for the city.
