OUTSTANDING CONCRETE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Will Koch Residence in Santa Claus

The Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association (IRMCA) presented the 2007 Outstanding Concrete Achievement Awards for projects in the State of Indiana on December 11, 2007 at the Indianapolis East Marriott.

In the category of Concrete Residential Projects: Patterned/Decorative, one of the winners is the Will Koch residence located in Santa Claus.

This project team for the Will Koch residence is the owner: Will Koch, the General Contractor: RLS, the Concrete Finisher: D & E Concrete and the Ready Mix Producer is Tell City Concrete.

The approach to the home features a textured concrete drive that leads to the focal point of the front entrance – a fountain surrounded by stenciled concrete. The textured concrete continues around the house to the garage area. The back of the house features upper and lower concrete decks, opening onto the pool area where a unique design of stenciled concrete surrounds a large fire pit. The stenciling and texturing throughout demonstrates a unique use of designs, patterns, and colors, as well as a blending of techniques that are complimentary to each other. The project used a 4000-pound mix with a total of 250.50 cubic yards of concrete.

IRMCA presents these awards to recognize extensive application or imaginative use of concrete; and to honor the accomplishments of project owners, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and ready mixed concrete producers.
