There are individuals who leave an organization a little better than they found it, and then there are leaders who help shape its future. As Paul Winkle of Ozinga Ready Mix, concludes his term as President of the Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association Board of Directors, the IRMCA recognizes not only what he accomplished during his presidency but also the lasting impact of his years of service to the board and to the ready mixed concrete industry.
Reflecting on the close of his presidency during the IRMCA Winter Mixer, Paul noted the positive momentum the association continues to build.
“This week at the IRMCA Winter Mixer brought an end to my past year as president of the board. This association has a ton of positive momentum as evidenced by our record event participation and turnout.”
Paul was also quick to credit the leadership team that helps keep the organization moving forward.
“Full credit goes to Chad Montgomery and Randy Spieth for their determined leadership.”
From the moment Paul stepped into a leadership role on the IRMCA Board of Directors, it was clear that his depth of knowledge in the ready mixed concrete industry would be a tremendous asset. Few professionals can speak with equal authority about ready mix optimization, logistics, compliance, and customer relationship management. His years of hands-on experience brought authenticity and practical insight to boardroom conversations.
Paul’s industry perspective consistently elevated discussions and helped guide thoughtful decisions that benefit IRMCA members across the state.
His time on the board also became one of the most rewarding chapters of his career.
“I’ve been in this industry seemingly forever and these last four years on the board have been some of the most rewarding years of my career.”
Serving as president of an industry association requires a meaningful personal investment. Paul’s commitment extended well beyond attending meetings or reviewing reports. He showed up consistently, enthusiastically, and with genuine interest in advancing the success of IRMCA members and the broader ready mixed concrete industry.
Early morning calls, late evening email threads, board meetings, and industry events were all approached with the same level of professionalism and purpose. His leadership helped advance initiatives that strengthen member engagement, education, and industry collaboration.
Paul also became a strong advocate for involvement in industry organizations, encouraging others to experience the professional growth that comes from active participation.
“I can’t stress enough how much personal and professional development you get from being part of a committee or board. You meet so many people throughout the industry to share experiences with. My only regret is I wish I had gotten more involved sooner in my career.”
His service also extended beyond the boardroom. Whether representing the association at events, engaging with members, or supporting industry initiatives, Paul consistently served as a knowledgeable and professional ambassador for the IRMCA.
He also recognizes the important role associations play in helping the industry navigate change.
“Ready-mix concrete is evolving at light speed and associations like ours are critical to keeping up with that change.”
Paul also acknowledged the guidance and encouragement of previous IRMCA leaders who helped shape his own leadership journey.
“Special thanks to previous board presidents for their guidance and encouragement, great guys like Dustin Hartman (Shelby Materials) and Adam Kress (Ernst Concrete) in particular.”
As Paul concludes his presidency, the IRMCA Board of Directors continues its work with strong leadership moving forward. Paul
expressed his confidence in the association’s future and the leadership of incoming 2026 Board President Kevin Lemler of imi.
“The association board is in great hands with Kevin Lemler leading it in 2026. Cheers to a safe, healthy and prosperous 2026.”
As his term concludes, the IRMCA is stronger, more connected, and well positioned for the future because of Paul’s leadership and service.
To our outgoing president, thank you. Thank you for your time, your wisdom, and the countless hours you dedicated to strengthening the association and supporting the ready mixed concrete industry in Indiana.
Your legacy is not measured simply in meetings held or initiatives launched, but in the relationships strengthened, the collaboration fostered, and the standard of leadership you set for those who follow.
