At the 2026 IRMCA Winter Mixer, the Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association proudly honored Shianne Black as the 2025 IRMCA Associate of the Year. While formally introduced as Shianne, she is known throughout the association simply as Shi, a reflection of the approachable and authentic way she engages with members and partners.
Shi serves as National Event Coordinator and Area Sales Manager with Sky Systemz, a role that naturally places her at the intersection of planning, communication, and relationship management. Through her work, she supports industry events across the country, but her involvement with IRMCA stands out for its consistency and enthusiasm.
Whether assisting with logistics, supporting on site activities, or making introductions between members, Shi approaches each event with the same level of preparation and care. Her presence helps create a welcoming environment that encourages conversation and collaboration, which aligns closely with IRMCA’s mission.
Over the past several years, Shi has become one of IRMCA’s most visible and engaged associate participants. She has volunteered her time at major events, including the IRMCA Mixer Driver Competition in 2025, and regularly attends conferences, meetings, and networking opportunities throughout the year.
Beyond in person engagement, Shi is also a strong advocate for IRMCA through her professional storytelling and promotion on LinkedIn. “I think participating in association events really furthers the brand that we represent. It is a great way to communicate the core values that really go into what makes a valuable business connection. I think that these events are invaluable because where do you get undivided time with people that are as important in these large companies as they are. So, it’s great to be able to meet here, network, and grow within this industry.”
Her perspective reflects a broader understanding of association value, not just as a marketing opportunity, but as a space where trust, credibility, and long term relationships are built. Shi’s involvement with IRMCA has evolved alongside her confidence and familiarity within the community.
“This will be the third year that I’ve personally been working events. For two solid years from my first event till now, I feel like family with whom I met. So, it started with kind of an intimidating scenario outwardly and then I was just welcomed with open arms, and it just has really been great.”
That sense of belonging is something IRMCA strives to create for all members and partners. Shi’s experience highlights how consistent involvement transforms initial introductions into lasting professional relationships. Among IRMCA’s many events, the Winter Mixer holds a special place for Shi. The scale of the event and the opportunity for extended interaction make it particularly meaningful.
“The community is very, very apparent. There are a lot of friendships that have been developed here that I’m grateful for. The networking and relationship building at this specific event, it’s a great focus on why being a member is valuable. There’s just so much value for the money invested here.”
Her comments reflect the role the Winter Mixer plays in strengthening industry relationships and reinforcing the benefits of association membership.
The Associate of the Year Award is not given lightly. According to Randy Spieth, IRMCA Promotions Manager, Shi exemplifies the qualities the award is meant to recognize.
