Stronger Together: KCA & IRMCA Join Forces

Highlights from the First KY-IN Joint Summer Convention

In July 2025, IRMCA and KCA members came together in Savannah, Georgia, for the first-ever KY-IN Joint Summer Convention – a milestone event that brought two state associations together for a week of networking, education, and connection. Set against the stunning backdrop of the JW Marriott Plant Riverside District, the convention offered something for everyone, from board meetings and policy updates to family-friendly receptions and memorable evenings under the Southern sky.

From Policy to Personal Connections

On Monday and Tuesday, members dove into association business during the IRMCA and KCA board meetings, reinforcing the forward momentum of both organizations. Later, education sessions led by Kevin Walgenbach of NRMCA and Lianna Miller of WAP Sustainability brought timely insights on federal policy, compliance, and the evolving role of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in project delivery and business strategy.

These sessions reminded us that industry success doesn’t just come from the jobsite, it relies on staying informed and adaptable as regulations, expectations, and sustainability priorities are in a continual shift.

But just as important as the sessions were the moments between them: impromptu chats at the reception, shared meals among colleagues-turned-friends, and front-row seats to Savannah’s signature sunsets.

Why Events Like This Work

Events like the Joint Summer Convention reinforce what makes our industry resilient and vibrant:

  • They build bridges across state lines and strengthen our collective voice.
  • They keep members in the know on issues that affect business operations and public policy.
  • They offer a setting for relationship-building, where peers and partners collaborate, brainstorm, and celebrate one another.
  • And they remind us that our families and personal lives are part of what makes this work meaningful.

We’re already looking ahead to next year’s convention and hope to see even more of our members and industry partners there. After all, when we come together, we move the industry forward!
